Serving Suggestions

Each cake is designed with a tall structure, reflecting my signature style. Cakes typically feature 4 to 5 layers with fillings between each, resulting in a height of approximately 6 to 8 inches. Please note that single tiered cakes larger than 9”, smaller than 6”, heart-shaped and smash cakes are exceptions to this. Prices listed are only starting prices and may vary depending on specific customizations and requests. Due to the unique nature of my work, each cakes is priced individually, taking into account various factors that we'll delve into during the design process!

What to consider when choosing your cake size:

  • Guest numbers to cater for:

If cake is the only dessert option, my recommendation is to allow for every guest to have one slice. If your event includes open bar or an additional dessert option, my recommendation is to allow around 75-80% of your guest numbers to have a slice of cake as not everyone will want one.

  • What event are you planning? This will usually determine portion sizes

    Portion Size: a wedding/ dessert portion is defined as 1" x 1" x 5-6" tall, and a party portion is 1" x 2" x 5-6" tall.

Birthdays/ celebration cakes: usually serve ‘party portions’

Weddings usually serve ‘dessert (wedding) portions’

  • Am I serving other treats or desserts at my event?

  • What is the adult vs. child ratio?

Adults and elders tend to have less of a sweet tooth but children & adolescents generally want larger slices or more helpings.

  • Who will be cutting the cake?

The venue’s kitchen staff will almost always provide the perfect size and number of serves. A family member or friend, on the other hand, may not know proper cake-cutting methods or portion sizes. This can affect how many portions you get from a cake.

  • Would you like some cake left over for later?

  • Will you be serving alcohol | Open Bar?

Additional portions:

Kitchen Cakes can be provided if you require additional portions or if you would prefer a smaller cake but to cater for larger numbers.

Faux tiers:

Consider replacing real cake tiers with artificial 'faux' tiers should you prefer a big cake but not as many portions. There may be a cost reduction with this option but please note that a significant proportion of the price of your cake is for the decorating time. Fully faux cakes with kitchen cakes for serving is also an option to consider especially during the warmer months. Please note, some designs may require faux tiers, or fully faux cake designs. Check to see if your cake may require faux tiers.
